50-50 Show

Location: Sanchez Art Center
Reception: 7/30/20106:00PM - 10:00PM

What do you get when 67 artists each create a work of art a day for 50 days in a row? Pure eye candy!  You won't want to miss this show. Last year, 1000 people came to the Opening Reception.  It was a delightful surprise, but very crowded.

This year, we're anticipating the crowd and are doing our best to provide comfortable viewing and a smooth sales process. We've extended the hours of the Opening Reception and are providing the opportunity to see the show at a ticketed Preview. If you want to beat the crowd and have first choice of the over 3000 works that will be on display, you should attend the ticketed Preview on Thursday, July 29, 7 - 9 pm. Brownpapertickets.com is a great, user-friendly ticket outlet.  Tickets are limited, and your total price including sales charge is only $10.98. (Tickets will be $20 at the door, subject to availability.) Preview purchases will remain in place so that attendees of the Opening Reception will be able to see the show in its entirety.

Juried Exhibition: What Lies Above Below & Through

Location: Livermore, CA

Juried Exhibition: What Lies Above Below & Through

(an exhibition about surface, depth, opacity & transparency)

May 14th to June 19th.
Artist Reception May 28
th, 2010, 5:30-9:00 in conjunction with the downtown Art Tour.

With this exhibition, we invited artists to contemplate the concepts of surface and depth, opacity and transparency. 31 artists, many from the tri-valley area but extending as far as Petaluma, Tiburon, San Francisco and the Central Valley responded with interesting works from metal sculpture, metal origami, textile art, collage and tissue paper art, mixed media, digital photography, plexiglass and layered paintings.

This will be an exhibit you should not miss. Please see our What Lies gallery to view a sample of each artist’s works.

With so many strong works submitted, we will be extending the exhibition to Panama Red Coffee Company, with a sampling of artists’ works up from the 17
th of May through the 19th of June. Panama Red is located at First and K Streets in downtown Livermore. We applaud Panama Red for continuing to exhibit art in their shop and support community events with their ever-popular community posting board; we’d love to see more businesses do the same!

Local Artists Now Showing in Popular Los Gatos Gallery Space
Artists Reception Open to Public:  Thursday, June 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
24 N. Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos

The Los Gatos Art Association (LGAA) and The Museums of Los Gatos are collaborating again!

David Stonesifer, the LGAA award-winning artist and Los Gatos Arts Commissioner, and Larry Arzie, a long-time supporter of the arts in Los Gatos, have offered their recently vacated gallery space at 24 N. Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos (formerly Tercera/Linda Durnell Gallery) for the summer months.

Art work by Los Gatos artists who have previously exhibited in The Art Museum of Los Gatos shows, or were juried into a LGAA Member or Open-Juried Show, will be featured in the popular gallery space on Los Gatos' main thoroughfare.  Artists will share a portion of each sale with The Museums of Los Gatos.

"We want to raise awareness," Stonesifer said, "so that the art profile doesn't wane while deciding on a new tenant."

Original works in a wide range of subject matter, such as impressionistic landscapes and florals, portraiture realism, as well as contemporary abstractions are represented utilizing fine art media of oil, acrylic, dry media, wet media, mixed media, printmaking and sculpture.

Gallery Open Tuesday thru Saturday, and some Sundays, 10:00am - 5:30pm, 24N Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos:
Each day an LGAA artist will be on site at the 24 N. Santa Cruz Avenue gallery and some will do live demonstrations as part of the Got Art? Gallery exhibition.  Bring your family, friends, out-of-town visitors and fellow art lovers and snag this opportunity to take home one of your favorites from this amazing local collection!

Artists Reception, Thursday, June 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.:  Meet and mingle with the artists.   Public is invited to this free reception.
